The incident took place at Nagole here late on Thursday night when two robbers barged into the shop and fired three rounds, injuring the owner of the jewelery store and an employee of another jeweller, who had come there to deliver gold.

Two people, including the owner of a jewelery shop here, were injured when unidentified persons opened fire on them and allegedly decamped with gold ornaments and cash from the shop, police said on Friday.

The incident took place at Nagole here late Thursday night when two robbers barged into the shop and fired three rounds, injuring the owner of the jewelery shop and an employee of another jeweller, who had come to deliver gold there, they said.

The robbers fled the spot with gold ornaments and cash, he said, adding that two persons who sustained bullet injuries in the incident have been hospitalised.

Police said 15 special teams have been formed to nab the robbers. A local shopkeeper said that he heard gunshots and saw two men running away and claimed that he tried to catch them, but they got into two different two-wheelers and one of them did not have a number plate .

A senior police officer said they are verifying how much gold ornaments and cash were looted, adding two injured persons, one of whom suffered bullet injuries on his face, are undergoing treatment and They are safe.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on and the police is also analyzing the CCTV footage.
