Israel is such a country that even after being surrounded by enemies, they have kept their noses up. In area, this country is smaller than India’s Kerala, today in every respect, it is ahead of the big countries of the world. The name of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad leaves the sweat of the enemies. On this day in 1948, Israel declared itself an independent nation.

The size of Israel in the world map today has a long history behind it. Turkey used to be the Ottoman Empire instead of Israel. After the defeat of Turkey in World War I, the area was occupied by Britain. Britain was a big power at that time and till the Second World War this area remained under British occupation. In the Second World War, America and the Soviet Union emerged as two new powers. Britain suffered a lot in this war. In 1945, Britain handed over the area to the United Nations.

In 1947, the United Nations divided this area into two parts. One Arab state and one Israel. The city of Jerusalem was placed under the management of the international government. Israel declared its independence the very next year. With this, a powerful country in the world was formed on this day in 1948.

As soon as Israel declared its independence, within 24 hours of it, the combined forces of Arab countries attacked it. This battle was definitely difficult for Israel, but he did not lose his courage. This fight continued for the next one year. As a result, the armies of the Arab countries were defeated.

With the end of the war, the first election for the 120-member parliament of Israel was held on 25 January 1949, in which citizens participated enthusiastically and David Ben Gurion was elected the country’s first prime minister. At present, more than 40% of the world’s total Jewish population lives in Israel. Israel is the only Jewish country in the world.

After the end of World War II in 1945, the Soviet Union and America were two new powers in front of the world. The cold war had started between these two. Both the countries wanted to prove themselves powerful. For this, both of them started making lobby. In 1948, the Soviet Union refused to withdraw its forces from Eastern Europe and placed a blockade of Berlin.

This move of the Soviet Union shocked the countries of Europe including America and they took the initiative to form an organization to stop the Soviet Union. This included many countries including America, France and the UK. Today this organization is known as NATO.

When the Soviet Union saw that countries were being organized against it, it also decided to form a similar organization. The Soviet Union signed the Warsaw Pact in 1955, taking along some countries of Eastern Europe. It was the Soviet Union’s own organization in response to America’s NATO. Apart from the Soviet Union, it included 7 other countries. It was said in the treaty that in the event of an attack on any country of the organization, the rest of the countries would help it. During this, the Cold War continued between the countries of NATO and the Soviet Union. The treaty was terminated at a meeting held in Hungary on 25 February 1991.
