When asked about how one motivates or leads the likes of openers Head and Abhishek, who notched scores of 89* and 75* respectively, Cummins stated that there was nothing to be done from his side, but to allow them to be themselves.

167 runs scored in 9.4 overs. A mere 58 balls were needed to clinch the 10-wicket win, the biggest-ever win in IPL history with respect to balls left, against LSG. The highest score was posted in the first 10 overs of an innings in the IPL. Too good to be true? Well, SRH skipper Pat Cummins himself found it unreal, as he talked about his team’s brilliance after their win on Wednesday.

SRH’s 167 runs scored in 9.4 overs, with the help of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, broke records galore, as the hosts sealed an utterly dominant 10-wicket win over LSG.

Both Head and Abhishek tormented LSG bowlers to no avail, posting up quickfire fifties, in 16 and 19 balls each respectively, enroute to their dominating win against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants.

When asked about how one motivates or leads the likes of openers Head and Abhishek, who notched scores of 89* and 75* respectively, Cummins stated that there was nothing to be done from his side, but to allow them to be themselves.

“We just let them go, they are two guys who are very positive and I’m a bowler, it is tough for me to give them any inputs,” stated an elated Cummins in a post-match interivew.

“Travis has been like this for 2 years, he hits the tough areas, hits the middle a lot, might not be super conventional. Abhishek is just an incredible player of spin and pace. With just 2 fielders out, it is really difficult for the bowlers against them.”

This season of the IPL has seen a boom in scoring unlike any other with over 25 scores of 200+ being posted in the season already. SRH especially have been in the thick of it, having notched up the top two highest-ever targets to be set in IPL history, just in this season itself, along with boasting arguably the most lethal and hard-hitting batting order of all the teams.

So, when asked about the direction that the T20 format seems to be heading in, Cummins just paid respect to the batters who have evolved.

“I think the scores have gone up, and when the wickets are good, it is tough to come up with answers against batters when they get going. The boys have had a fantastic season, but to win this with less than 10 overs played is unreal,” said Cummins.
