The then Karimnagar won eight National Panchayat Awards

Karimnagar: One Zilla Parishad, two Mandal Parishads and five Gram Panchayats of the erstwhile Karimnagar district were selected for Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment Award-2022. The central government announced the awards on Saturday.

While Rajanna-Sirkilla Zilla Parishad bagged the award, Peddapalli and Kodimiyal of Jagtial Mandal Parishads received the award.

Five gram panchayats, Velchala in Karimnagar district, Ramadugu mandal, Madikunta, Mustabad mandal, Mandepally, Thangalapally mandal of Rajanna-Sircilla, Nagaram, Manthani mandal and Haripuram, Mutharam mandal of Peddapalli district received the award.

A total of 43 themes, including tree plantation, sanitation, keeping localities clean, supply of safe drinking water and other activities under Palle Pragati by the state government, have helped gram panchayats win national level awards.

The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, K T Rama Rao in a statement commended the officers and governing councils of Sircilla Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishads and Gram Panchayats for winning the award. The minister said that this was possible only because of the team work of the officials and public representatives.
