Ballari: The involvement of a minor boy in a major case of house theft has shook the Ballari police on Friday. This is being told the first case related to a boy in the district.
A 17-year-old boy from a village in Ballari district had allegedly stole cash and gold from his neighbor’s house when the prisoners were out of town. Although no one suspected him in this case, the police arrested him after a month-long crime as they noticed a change in his behaviour.
Sources said that the boy’s parents are poor, while he wanted to lead a lavish life. To fulfill his habits, he stormed the house in his neighborhood.
Ballari SP Saidulu Adavath told TOI that no one suspected the boy immediately after the theft. The SP said, ‘Last month when a neighbor went out of the city, the boy attacked his house and robbed his jewelery and Rs 2-3 lakh.
But the police got suspicious after the boy went to Bangalore. “When we took the boy into custody, he admitted to stealing. We have recovered 105 grams of jewelery worth Rs 5.50 lakh from him.
During interrogation, the boy told the police that he stole money to party in Bengaluru and buy expensive liquor and cellphones. “He traveled to Bengaluru 2-3 times to party. He had also planned to sell jewellery. This is the first case in Ballari district in recent times, in which a minor boy has committed theft alone.
