Test Blast at Supertech Towers Testing of Explosives Required for Demolition

On August 31 last year, the Supreme Court had ordered the scrapping of Supertech’s Apex and Cayenne.

Noida:

A test blast was carried out this afternoon by Edifice Engineering and Jet Demolition to demolish the illegally constructed Supertech Twin Towers, which the Noida authority has engaged to demolish the property.

As per the advisory issued earlier, residents of adjoining societies were requested to stay indoors during that period.

According to officials, the Apex and Cayenne towers of Supertech will be physically demolished on May 22, but test detonation was being carried out to ascertain the quantity of explosives required for the demolition.

According to officials, up to four tonnes of explosives can be used to bring down the illegal Supertech twin towers in Noida and it would take just nine seconds for the nearly 100-metre-high structure to explode on May 22.

In addition, around 1,500 families living close to the towers located in Sector 93A would be thrown out of their homes for about five hours if the blast took place at 2:30 pm on May 22.

The Supreme Court had on August 31 last year ordered the demolition of Apex (100 metres) and Sien (97 metres) of Supertech as the two towers were constructed in violation of building norms.

The Supreme Court had also reprimanded the local Noida authority for approving the project under its supervision.
