TDP calls for statewide bandh after attack on party offices; Criticism of government for ‘law and order failure’

Andhra Pradesh opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu has called for a statewide bandh on October 20. The former chief minister attributed the attacks as deliberate attempts by the ruling party to hurt TDP leaders. He demanded imposition of President’s rule for “pathetic failure of law and order in the state” and “state sponsored terrorism, which he has never seen in 40 years of political career”.

Naidu claimed that both CM and DGP Gautam Sawang together targeted our leaders and party offices at many places. He expressed disappointment over the DGP not getting his phone call and failing to investigate the attacks.

Naidu also took a dig at Reddy’s government for the attacks on YSRCP leaders and “henchmen at various places to kill our workers”.

The TDP chief criticized the state government’s failure to curb illegal activities, including production and export of ganja.

“Is it wrong to question the production and supply of cannabis, the breakdown of law and order and the government resorting to attacks?” He asked.

Some TD leaders and activists staged a sit-in on the national highway to protest the YSRCP attacks, leading to traffic jams.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over the attacks on TD offices. “Such incidents should not happen as it will create problems and law and order is important in a democratic state,” Kalyan said.

The ruling YSR Congress Party cadre on Tuesday allegedly ransacked the Telugu Desam Party’s headquarters at Mangalagiri, Visakhapatnam offices and other places near here, alleging that a spokesperson of the opposition party at a press conference told Chief Minister Y.S. Made objectionable remarks against Jagan Mohan Reddy.
