AIADMK submits a memorandum to Governor RN Ravi for a proper inquiry into the deaths of over 20 people after consuming spurious liquor

The main opposition AIADMK, led by party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, on Monday took out a rally against the DMK regime on issues like the recent hooch tragedy and demanded appropriate action.

The AIADMK submitted a memorandum to Governor RN Ravi demanding steps to conduct a proper inquiry into the deaths of over 20 people after consuming spurious liquor.

A large number of party workers took part in the rally, which was taken out from Little Mount Square near Raj Bhavan in the heart of the city, raising slogans against the state government.

Accompanied by senior leaders including Dindigul C Srinivasan, KP Munusamy, D Jayakumar and SP Velumani, Palaniswami met Ravi at the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to him.

The AIADMK urged Ravi to look into the matter so that a proper inquiry into the spurious liquor tragedy could be conducted by the government.

The opposition party blamed the DMK rule for the “deteriorating” law and order situation and the availability of “illicit” liquor, which led to the death of over 20 people in the state. Many others are undergoing treatment for having consumed spurious liquor.
