United States fast bowler Ali Khan was ruled out of the remainder of the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe due to a fractured wrist. The 31-year-old suffered an injury during USA’s match against Jersey at Bulawayo Athletic Club on Monday, July 10.

In the 19th over of the jersey innings, Khan suffered a hand injury while trying to stop a ball in the run-up. Benjamin Ward fired a full-blooded shot straight at Ali, which could not escape injury.

Ali tries to catch the ball but gets himself confused. The ball got out of his hand and left for two runs. After this he suffered pain, after which a physiotherapist from USA treated him.

The pacer tried to go ahead but conceded five no balls. Unable to catch the ball properly, Ali went out of the park and took no further part in the match. Khan conceded 21 runs in 3.2 overs at an economy rate of 6.30.

After the match, fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar said that America is desperate to make it to the T20 World Cup to be held later this year.

“We want to do it for him. We want him to make it to the World Cup. That’s what we promised him and we will do our best.”

As of now, USA Cricket has not named Ali Khan’s replacement. The pacer has been a globetrotter in T20 cricket since 2018, when he first got a chance to play for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

He is also set to play for TKR in the upcoming edition of CPL. Ali Khan was also picked as a replacement player by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he did not get a chance to play the match.
