Sushant Singh Rajput Was Disturbed During Kedarnath Shoot

Abhishek Kapoor, the filmmaker who collaborated with Sushant Singh Rajput on ‘Kai Po Che’ and ‘Kedarnath’, recently reflected on their working relationship.Kapoor mentioned that Sushant faced challenges and appeared ‘disturbed’ during the filming of Kedarnath in 2018. Despite this, Kapoor praised Sushant’s commitment to his craft, noting how he persevered through difficult shooting conditions, serving as an inspiration to his co-star Sara Ali Khan.

Abhishek Kapoor also expressed his close bond with Sushant Singh Rajput and disclosed that he originally intended to cast him in ‘Fitoor.’ However, due to various circumstances, the collaboration didn’t come to fruition, and Sushant was eventually cast in ‘Kedarnath.’

“He was a bit disturbed in those days. He was a very strong guy mentally and physically he could take on anything. He was a great guy. I think he was finding himself to be very isolated and quite helpless. He was drifting away,” Kapoor said.

He elaborated that during that period, Sushant seemed to be grappling with challenges. Despite his evident mental and physical resilience, he appeared isolated and adrift, as if he were losing his direction.

The filmmaker also remembered how Sushant’s dedication to his work, particularly shooting in freezing conditions, served as an inspiration to Sara Ali Khan. Seeing Sushant’s commitment, Sara followed suit, understanding that if he could do it, so could she. This dynamic motivated her to push herself in the same manner.

Towards the end, the director also mentioned his intentions to cast Sushant in one of his films before ‘Kedarnath.’ Recalling the audition process, Abhishek noted that Sushant was initially overweight. He set a condition for Sushant to transform his physique to resemble that of an American actor, as the role required him to portray a cricketer. Despite being a man of few words, Sushant diligently worked hard for three months. He would show up at six in the morning for cricket practice and gym training. Eventually, he successfully transformed his appearance to fit the role.
