Supreme Court orders former Unitech promoters to shift Mumbai’s Arthur Road, Taloja jails from Delhi’s T

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the transfer of former Unitech promoters Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra from Tihar Jail in Delhi to Arthur Road Jail and Taloja Jail in Mumbai.

The top court directed Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana to immediately initiate investigation and submit a report within four weeks against the Tihar Jail officials, who had allegedly colluded with the Chandras.

The Enforcement Directorate earlier made a shocking disclosure in the apex court and said that two former Unitech promoters were working from Tihar Jail.

Additional Solicitor General Madhavi Divan, appearing for Enforcement, said, “During one of our search and seizure operations, we have unearthed a secret underground office which is being used by Ramesh Chandra and when he is out on parole or bail. So his sons visit him.” The directorate told the apex court, PTI reported.

“We have recovered hundreds of original sale deeds, hundreds of digital signatures and several computers from that office containing sensitive data regarding their properties in India and abroad,” he said.

The Enforcement Directorate, which is probing money laundering charges against Chandra and Unitech Ltd, said both Sanjay and Ajay have ended their full judicial custody as they are communicating freely, instructing their officers. Giving and disposing of their assets from the inside. Jail.
