Summer-tourism season has started in Himachal. To escape the heat of the plains, tourists are turning to the mountains. For their convenience, Railways is going to start summer special toy train on Kalka-Shimla heritage track from today.
According to the railway management, the toy train will run from Kalka to Shimla at 1:05 pm today on the World Heritage track. This train will reach Shimla at 6:30 pm. The next day i.e. tomorrow at 9:20 am it will leave Shimla for Kalka with passengers and will reach Kalka at 3:50 pm.

Summer special will continue till July 1
The special toy train will run from Kalka to Shimla from 14th April to 30th June and will run from Shimla to Kalka from 15th April to 1st July. Therefore, tourists will be able to enjoy the thrilling journey on the heritage track during the summer season for the next two and a half months from today.
A total of six trains will run on the heritage track from today
Already five trains are running daily on this track. After the introduction of the toy train, there will be a total of six trains. The toy train being started from today will be operated from un-reserved mail and express special category. It will have four GS class coaches and one SLR class coach.

The Kalka-Shimla Heritage Rail Track has been given the status of World Heritage by UNESCO in July 2008. Because of this everyone wants to come to Shimla from this track. The 103 tunnels on this track and the 48-degree angle of rotation of the coaches make the journey of the passengers more thrilling.
