Stock Market Updates: BSE opened at a new record high of 58,000. Reliance, Kotak Top Gainers

Mumbai: Indian indices opened at new record highs on Friday with the BSE Sensex crossing the 58,000 mark for the first time on the back of favorable global cues.

The BSE Sensex hit a new all-time high of 58,115.69, while the broader NSE Nifty soared to 17,311.95 on the last trading day of the week.

The record-high for both the indices comes when the market is full of liquidity and solid global cues. Both are gearing up for their second consecutive weekly profit.

Top Sensex gainers were Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Titan Company, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and State Bank of India (SBI).

HCL Tech, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Maruti Suzuki, Nestle India, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers in the Sensex.

All sectoral indices were trading in the green except Nifty FMCG, Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma. Nifty was led by PSU Bank, Auto and Realty stocks. About 1772 shares have risen, 833 shares have declined and 120 shares have remained unchanged.

Yesterday Nifty closed 157.90 points or 0.92% higher at 17234.20, led by IT and FMCG stocks, while Sensex was up 514.33 points or 0.90% at 57852.54.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Reliance and Eicher Motors Ltd gained 1.2 per cent and 2.4 per cent, respectively, on the Nifty 50.

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance Co Ltd fell up to 4.2 per cent as it said it would buy the life insurance arm of battery maker Exide Industries Ltd for Rs 66.87 billion ($915.02 million), while Exide Industries rose nearly 10 per cent. Hui.
