States will give Rs 50,000 ex-gratia from SDRF for Covid-19 deaths: Center to SC. told

New Delhi: Informing the Supreme Court, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government on Wednesday said ex-gratia will be given to the kin of Covid-19 victims, including those involved in relief work.

The Center informed the apex court that the families of those who died of Covid would get an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 from the state governments.

The government has informed that not only will compensation be given to families who have lost someone due to COVID, but compensation will also be given for future deaths.

Making the announcement, the Center said that the funds would be paid by the state governments from their respective State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), which would be channeled through the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) or the district administration.
