Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar died of a heart attack on Friday. The actor was reportedly working out in his gym when he suddenly collapsed and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Puneet was later admitted to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru and was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit till the devastating news emerged. He was 46 years old.

His elder brother Shiv Rajkumar’s film ‘Bhajrangi 2’, which was a sequel to the 2013 superhit film ‘Bhajrangi’, released today. Earlier in the morning, Puneet had congratulated his brother and the team of the film in a tweet. He tweeted, ‘All the best to the entire team of Bhajrangi 2. @NimmaShivanna @NimmaAHarsha @JayannaFilms”

But due to his untimely death, shows of Bajrangi 2 have been canceled across Karnataka. Confirming the same, BH Basha, a major distributor in Karnataka, tells News18.com, “This news is really unfortunate. We had seen unprecedented advance bookings for the film as people were eager to watch the film in theatres. There were some such celebrations which the fans had planned, but the celebration has now turned into tragedy. We are not running any shows and all the theaters have been asked not to run the film.”
