Rajinikanth undergoes surgery, will stay in hospital for few days

CHENNAI: Megastar Rajinikanth underwent a surgical procedure after he was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Friday, October 29, 2021, after he complained of dizziness on Thursday evening. According to the hospital, a panel of doctors examined Rajinikanth and successfully performed the ‘Carotid Artery Revascularization’ surgery.

The megastar is recovering after the procedure and is expected to be discharged from the hospital in a few days.

In simple words, the carotid artery supplies oxygenated blood to the head and neck. A buildup of fatty substances that collect and stick to the lining of the arteries can narrow the carotid and cause health problems. The medical procedure that the 70-year-old actor had to undergo was to remove the block in this artery and thus prevent further problems.

on Thursday, Rajinikanth’s publicist had said the actor was in the hospital For regular health check-ups and he may have to stay under observation in the hospital for a day.

Rajinikanth was in New Delhi earlier this week to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his stellar contribution to Indian cinema over the past 45 years.

On Wednesday, the actor had tweeted pictures from his meetings with the President and Prime Minister of India. On Thursday, he also shared social media posts of watching a special screening of his upcoming film with family.

The superstar is waiting for the release of his 168th film ‘Annathe’, which will hit the screens on Diwali.
