SP will contest 2022 elections in alliance with PSPL, smaller parties: Akhilesh | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: National President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said his party will contest the upcoming 2022 UP Assembly elections in alliance with Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) and other smaller and regional parties.
In a broad indication of strengthening ties with his estranged uncle and PSPL chief Shivpal Singh Yadav, Akhilesh said his party would give full respect to the ‘uncle’.
Over the past few days, PSPL president Shivpal Singh Yadav has been consistently expressing his desire for an electoral alliance, saying that his priority is always to contest the 2022 assembly elections with the SP and was waiting for a signal from his nephew. On Wednesday, Akhilesh finally gave positive signs on the alliance with his uncle.
Akhilesh said that many parties are in alliance with SP for the 2022 elections.
“The Samajwadi Party is constantly trying to bring regional and smaller parties together for the 2022 assembly elections. Recently many parties have come with SP. SBSP chief OP Rajbhar announced to join us at an event in Mau. It is natural that we will tie up with ‘uncle” party and the people of SP will give him full respect. I want to assure it,” he said.
After leaving the Samajwadi Party, Shivpal had formed PSPL in 2018 when Akhilesh took over the reins from his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Akhilesh, who arrived in his native village Saifai on Wednesday to celebrate Diwali, also greeted the party workers on the occasion and appealed to them to light a lamp in memory of the farmers who died due to lack of fertilizers, crop failure and other reasons.
“Let us all resolve to work to ensure happiness in life and celebrate the festival with enthusiasm,” he said.
“At the same time, we must also realize that many people are unable to celebrate the festival due to high inflation. Due to rising cost, people are not able to meet their needs. Today we got the news that a farmer committed suicide due to debt in Baghpat.
Akhilesh further said that the farmers are in trouble and they are not getting the benefits. “Many farmers have lost their lives standing in line for manure. Paddy is standing in the fields, but the government is not able to tell from where the farmers will get the fair price for their crop. Farmers are forced to sell their paddy in the market.
Electricity has become expensive, there is shortage of manure, pesticides, vegetables have become expensive. The government is not able to fulfill its responsibility. People are unhappy with inflation.
“The BJP is going to be wiped out in the 2022 elections,” he claimed, adding that only the works of the SP government across the state are being inaugurated by the BJP government.
