Kanpur: Meenakshi Gupta, wife of businessman Manish Gupta, who was killed in Gorakhpur on September 27 due to police excesses, has thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the CBI on Tuesday filed an FIR in her husband’s murder.
“Now my husband’s killers will definitely be punished”, he said. The CBI has named Inspector Jagat Narayan Singh of Gorakhpur’s Ramgarh Tal police station, Sub-Inspectors Akshay Mishra and Vijay Yadav and three other police personnel as accused in the case. Till now, the matter was being investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of UP Police. Six police officers have been booked for murder and suspended from service. Though they were absconding, all the accused were arrested in October.
Meenakshi said that it was through the media that she came to know about the registration of the FIR by the CBI. “Thanks to the government and CM Yogi Adityanath who not only helped the family financially but also appointed me as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in Kanpur Development Authority and accepted my demand for a CBI inquiry. Now my husband’s The murdered policeman will not be able to escape under any circumstances.”
To recall, Manish Gupta had reportedly died after being tortured by the police during a police raid at a hotel in Gorakhpur. Manish’s wife Meenakshi had made several demands including a CBI inquiry, necessary compensation and a job after her husband’s death.
Accepting Meenakshi’s demand, CM Yogi Adityanath had not only recommended CBI to investigate the matter, but also gave financial assistance of Rs 40 lakh and also ordered her to be appointed OSD in KDA.
