Colombo: Kuldeep Yadav was India’s top scorer in today’s T20 International with 23 runs. Such was the dismal pattern of India’s batting performance that the number seven batsman outperformed all top-order batsmen. India played a very young side, with the likes of Gaikwad, Padikkal, Samson and Rana forming the top of India’s batting order.
These youngsters failed to shine in the last two T20 Internationals which means the young Indian boys need to gear up as they have big shoes to fill. It seems an unfortunate way for the Indian batsmen to end the series where they have been dominating the Sri Lankan bowlers throughout the series. India’s batting debacle comes after eight Indian players were denied permission to participate in today’s match as they were in close proximity with Kunal Pandya, who was tested Covid-19 positive.
Leg spinner Hasaranga took 4 wickets and rest of the bowlers also did well. Indian batsmen kept on losing wickets. India were 36/5 at one point in the match.
Despite losing the second T20I after batting first, India decided to bat first on a difficult wicket. The Indian batsmen never looked comfortable and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, it was a joint bowling effort of the Sri Lankan bowlers. Leg-spinner Hasaranga troubled the Indian batsmen a lot and looks like a huge prospect for the future.
Sri Lanka finally registered their first series win in the year 2021. Coach Mickey Arthur will be extremely happy, especially with the performance of his bowlers. Happiness at SL Camp!
