Indian women beat Sri Lanka women

After winning the T20I series against the mighty Sri Lanka, the women in blue have now started their ODI campaign with a thumping victory over Sri Lanka. seasoned veteran Deepti Sharma He rose to the occasion and put on full display with both bat and ball. Sharma’s exploits ensured that India still barely chased down four wickets.

Sri Lanka had set a decent target of 172 but somehow India looked to be under immense pressure when they were reduced to 61-3. Harmanpreet KaurWho was leading the team as ODI captain for the first time, missed her half-century by 6 runs.

Pooja Vastrakar21* and Deepti Sharma’s 22* made sure to chase down the score in 38 overs. First, India bowled out Sri Lanka for 171 in 48.2 overs and then chased down the target with 72 balls to spare.

The three-match ODI series that is currently being played is an important part of the ICC ODI Championship. Indian legend’s retirement Mithali RajHarmanpreet Kaur has taken over the reins of the Indian women’s team as a full-time captain.

With bowl in hand, Indian bowlers Deepti Sharma and medium pacer Renuka Singh set the breakers for the Sri Lankan scoring and finished with respective figures of 3/25 and 3/29. Renuka was in the lead as she dismissed Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu with a peach of a delivery.

Deepti Sharma, on the other hand, helped Renuka with her exploits as she dismissed Hansima Karunaratne for an eleven-ball duck. Sri Lanka women never recovered from these setbacks and were bundled out for 171 runs.
