Malayalam actor Lal Jose has been in limelight for a long time due to his role in the upcoming film Kuruvippa directed by Joshi John. The cast of Kuruvippa also includes well-known actors like Vineeth, Tanha Fathima, Santhosh Keyattoor and Kailash. According to reports, the shooting of the film has started in Nilambur, Kerala. Joshi has created a special niche among the audience for his direction with films like Saint 10E and 1999 Batch. Cine lovers are hoping that Kuruvippa will also join the list of these hits.

Kuruvippa, written by Bismit Nilambur and Jasmine Jass, is produced by Basheer KK. Pradeep Tom and Younis will compose the soundtrack for Yo Kuruvippa, and the lyrics are penned by Engandiyur Chandrasekhar and Dhanya Pradeep.

Fans also have high hopes from Lal Jose after seeing his stellar performance in Gypsy directed by Raju Murugan. Lal played the antagonist Muthleef, Waheeda’s (Natasha Singh) father, who despises the idea of women’s empowerment. He believes that only men should have authority over a woman’s destiny. Furthermore, his character is a fanatic at heart, who enlists support from his community leaders to separate Waheeda from a gypsy (Ziiva). The film’s review in The Hindu commended the film for curating the narrative of a love story that unfolds in the backdrop of extremism unleashed by religious fundamentalists. But according to the critic, the problem lies in the fact that Gypsy is hard-hitting but not completely so. The review also mentioned that there should have been more engaging moments which could have increased the grip of the story.

Apart from Gypsy, Lal Jose has also played the role of Devan in Imbam directed by Sreejith Chandran. This short film has not been released in theatres, but is streaming on Film application. Lal’s followers were surprised to know what made him choose to act in a short film at the peak of his career. It seems like he might have agreed to do it after knowing the subject of this film, which talks about an old man who expresses his perspective on wars.
