Sharadiya Navratri 2021: Why 9 different things are offered to Maa Durga every day of Navratri?

Shardiya Navratri 2021: Sharadiya Navratri is starting tomorrow 7th October 2021. According to tradition, nine different incarnations of Maa Durga are worshiped during the nine days of Navratri. Hence, on each of these days 9 different things are offered to Maa Durga during the puja.

It is believed that Maa Durga blesses her devotees, helps them to recover from diseases and removes financial problems.

During Navratri 9 these are the things that Huh Offered to Goddess:

  • Maa Shailputri is worshiped on the first day of Navratri. On this day, pure cow’s ghee is offered at the feet of the goddess. It is believed that it brings health and helps in getting rid of diseases.
  • Sugar is offered to Mother Brahmacharini on the second day of Navratri. This increases the lifespan of the family members.
  • On the third day of Navratri, Goddess Chandraghanta is offered milk or milk products. It is believed that on this day Brahmins should donate sweets made of milk. It removes sorrows and brings happiness.
  • Malpua is offered to Goddess Kushmanda on the fourth day of Navratri. According to religious beliefs, offering Malpua to people sharpens their intellect.
  • On the fifth day of Navratri, Maa Skandmata should be offered bananas and donated bananas on this day.
  • On the sixth day of Navratri, offer honey and sweets to please Maa Katyayani. This leads to the attainment of Dharma, Artha and Moksha.
  • On the seventh day of Navratri, worshiping Maa Kalratri, one should offer jaggery and dry fruits. It is believed that the goddess removes the evils and sufferings of the devotees.
  • Coconut should be offered while worshiping Mahagauri on the eighth day of Navratri. Offering coconut brings happiness and prosperity in the house.
  • Maa Siddhidatri should be offered sesame seeds on the last day of Navratri i.e. on the 9th day. It is said that by offering sesame seeds on Navami day, the possibility of misfortune or accident ends.
