MI Nathuram Godse Boltoy narrates the journey of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. The Marathi play May It Please Your Honor written by Pradeep Dalvi is based on the book, written by Nathuram Godse. Over the years the controversial drama has been in the news due to its controversial plot.

Marathi actor Sharad Ponkashe, who played the role of Nathuram in a recent interview, revealed how he faced protests during the performance of the play. He shared his experience in an episode of television program Khupte Dasam Gupte hosted by Avadhoot Gupte.

Sharad said that the play MI Nathuram Godse Boltoy was to be organized in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. According to Sharad, the play was to start at 09:30 pm and many people had gathered to watch it. Sharad told that the moment MI Nathuram Godse Boltoy finished, a group of 150 people came inside and started creating nuisance and the commotion continued till late night.

Sharad also said that despite the ruckus created by the group, not a single spectator came out of the auditorium. Sharad further told that the commotion could stop only at 4.30 in the morning. Sharad was happy that despite the controversies related to MI Nathuram Godse Boltoy, there was a huge crowd of spectators.

Apart from this play, Sharad also essayed the character of Nathuram in the film Hey Ram. Hey Ram Saket narrates the story of Rama whose wife is killed during the Direct Action Day riots in Calcutta. Saket Ram is convinced that Mahatma Gandhi is responsible for the riots and sets out to kill him. Apart from Sharad, Kamal Haasan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Hema Malini, Girish Karnad and others played important roles in the film. Bankrolled by Rajkamal Films International, Hey Ram was a box office success.
