Security Up, 35,000 Police Personnel Deployed In 8 Seats Of Gzb & Noida | Noida News – Times of India

Noida: Nearly 35,000 personnel, including paramilitary forces, home guards and police, have been deployed across the eight assembly constituencies of Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar that go to polls in the first phase of the state assembly elections on Thursday.
Alok Singh, the commissioner of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, told TOI that around 12,000 police personnel have been deployed in the district. “The three assembly constituencies — Noida, Jewar and Dadri — have been divided into eight super-zones, 26 zones and 125 sectors. We are trying to ensure that the election process is completed in a smooth and transparent manner. We request people to come out in large numbers and cast their votes,” Singh said.
The Noida police have stepped up security at the borders as well as in the city areas. “We have increased checkings at the border areas. Our teams are also keeping a close watch on social media to ensure that quick action is taken against people or miscreants trying to spread unwanted rumors,” Ranvijay SinghAdditional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida), said.
Three-tier security has been also set up at Phool Mandi where the electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be kept after the voting is over.
In the run-up to the elections, the district police have also seized a total of Rs 6.34 crore in cash, which was allegedly unaccounted for. “We have seized 7,915 licensed and 177 illegal weapons, 11,019-litre illicit liquor and issued notices to 725 people under CrPC Section 110 (security for good behavior from habitual offenders) since the model code of conduct was implemented,” a statement issued by the Noida police on Wednesday stated.
In Ghaziabad, senior superintendent of police Pawan Kumar said around 23,000 personnel have been deployed across the district where votes will be cast in five constituencies — Loni, Muradnagar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad and Modinagar. “Two-layered security arrangements have been made to safeguard the EVMs after voting. In the run-up to the elections, we have seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 90.16 lakh. Over 2,960 liters of illicit liquor worth around Rs 10.9 lakh and a total of over 200 kg drugs were also seized during this period,” Kumar said.
