Sathuranga Vettai 2 case: Madras High Court asks Kiran Studio to respond within a week

The Madras High Court has directed Kiran Studios to respond within a week in the story plagiarism case of the upcoming Tamil film, Sathuranga Vettai 2. Filmmaker Gangadharan had filed a petition in the HC contending that the Telugu film, featuring Khiladi Ravi Teja is based on the story of Sathuranga Vettai 2 and the film should be banned from releasing on the OTT platform.

The petitioner alleged that the makers of Sathuranga Vettai 2 have used multiple scenes of Khiladi including the interval scene, the climax of the film and some action sequences.

The film was released under the banner of Thirupathi Brothers Film Media and was a commercial success at the box office.

The story of Sathuranga Vettai revolves around a con artist named Gandhi Babu. The man is involved in several scams, including offering a BMW car to a non-existing multilevel marketing firm within a year.

In 2018, actor Arvind Swamy had approached the Madras HC to get his balance payment from the producer of Sathuranga Vettai 2. The actor urged the court to ask producer Manobala to pay the remaining Rs 1.79 crore along with interest of 18. Percentage from the date of filing the suit till the realization of payment.

Manobala then said that Arvind Swamy was misled by some people and was forced to approach the court for settlement of the dues.
