Sacked from Sharad Pawar’s NCP, Sunil Tatkare appointed party chief by Ajit Pawar

New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday sacked Sunil Tatkare for “anti-party activities”, while Ajit Pawar appointed him as state president.

The announcement was made by NCP leader Praful Patel, who was also dropped by Sharad Pawar this morning after ‘defection’ from the Eknath-BJP government.

Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel, who was appointed NCP working president last month, said, “We are relieving Jayant Patil of his responsibilities and in his place, I am appointing Sunil Tatkare as Maharashtra president of NCP.”

While the number of MLAs supporting Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar’s founding group separately remained unclear, the rebel group appointed Ajit as the leader of the NCP Legislature Party.

He said, “We request Sharad Pawar to accept the decision of the majority in the party. We seek his blessings,” Patel said.

Earlier in the day, Sharad Pawar, through a notice, asked Ajit Pawar and his supporting MLAs to desist from misrepresenting the fact that he has any links with the NCP.

Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar’s NCP has filed a disqualification petition against the newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar And 8 allies later took the party legislators to join hands with the Shinde-BJP state government on 2 July.
