Apart from this, CM Channi has called an all-party meeting. This meeting will be held on October 25.

In Punjab, except BJP, all political parties are opposing the jurisdiction of BSF. He says that out of 50 thousand square km area of ​​Punjab, 27 thousand square km area will come under the control of BSF.

In a letter to the PM, the CM said that BSF gets security training at the International Border. The responsibility of law and order within the country rests with the state police. Recently, in Punjab too, the police along with BSF have conducted successful operations against drug smugglers and terrorists. He asked the PM to look into the issue again. Channi said that there is no judicial basis to change the existing system.

The CM wrote that the police have the right to search, recover and arrest the suspect. It is not proper to hand it over to the BSF through any central act without consulting the state government. The Center recently extended the BSF’s jurisdiction in Punjab to 50 km from the 600 km area of ​​the International Border with Pakistan. In this, the BSF got the right of search, seizure and arrest. From the point of view of Punjab, many areas including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka came under the BSF. The BSF has got an exemption in the NDPS Act, Passport Act and Customs Act to take direct action.
