Rishab Shetty Finalises Script For Kantara 2, Shooting To Begin Soon

Earlier this year, Rishab Shetty embarked on a long journey to explore the coastal and forest regions of Karnataka to prepare for the film.

The shooting of Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara 2 will begin soon. The actor-director confirmed the sequel after the huge success of the first part that released in September last year. Rishabh has been working on scripting and location recce for some time now. Earlier this year, he embarked on a long journey to explore the coastal and forest regions of Karnataka to prepare for the film.

The film’s producer Vijay Kiragandur told a portal that Rishabh intends to start filming in June as some scenes require rainy weather. Kantara 2 is expected to release as an all India film around April or May next year. Made on a modest budget of Rs 16 crore, Kantara performed exceptionally well at the box office and earned over Rs 400 crore worldwide.

While the budget of the sequel is set to increase, the makers have insisted on keeping the film’s style, narration and cinematography in line with the first Kantara in order to maintain continuity and authenticity. Additional cast members, possibly well-known names, will be added to the film.

Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara was also screened at the United Nations in Geneva in March this year. Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the actor spoke about the need for environmental sustainability. The filmmaker mentioned that his film Kantara has important elements about human life in the lap of nature, local beliefs and rituals of the people. Rishabh insisted that his film showed a human connection with nature and how “existence and cultural values ​​are interdependent”.

Sharing a tweet from his visit to the UN Headquarters, Rishabh expressed his pride in representing ECO FAWN, a conservation non-profit organization from India, on the global platform.

He highlighted the importance of promoting cultural rights of forest dwellers and protecting forests.

The plot of Kantara revolves around a small community living in the forests of Kadubettu in the southern coastal state of Karnataka, where a conflict arises between humans and nature. Someone’s death leads to a battle between the villagers and the evil forces, with the rebellious Shiva defending his village and nature. The film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda of Homble Films and stars Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Saptami Gowda and Pramod Shetty in lead roles.
