RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Monday launched a financial inclusion dashboard named ‘Antardrishti’. In a statement, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said, as the name suggests, the dashboard will provide necessary insights to assess and monitor the progress of financial inclusion by capturing relevant parameters.

The facility will also be able to measure the extent of financial exclusion on a country wide basis so that such areas can be addressed.

At present, the dashboard is for internal use at the RBI, it said, adding it will facilitate greater financial inclusion through a multi-stakeholder approach.

The Reserve Bank has been promoting financial inclusion through various policy initiatives.

To measure the extent of financial inclusion, the central bank had come up with a Financial Inclusion (FI) Index in 2021 based on three dimensions of financial inclusion – ‘access’, ‘utilisation’ and ‘quality’.

The FI-Index has been conceptualized as a comprehensive index covering details of the banking, investment, insurance, postal as well as pension sectors, in consultation with the government and relevant sectoral regulators.

The index captures information on various aspects of financial inclusion in a single value between 0 and 100, where 0 represents complete financial exclusion and 100 indicates complete financial inclusion.
