Adipurush will see Sunny Singh sharing screen space with Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. The film is releasing on 16 June.

Sunil Lahiri, who starred in Ramayan in the show from 1987-1988, recently reacted to Sunny Singh playing the role of Lakshman in Adipurush. The actor played the role of Laxman in the Ramanand Sagar production.

Adipurush also features Prabhas as Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana, and is all set to release on June 16.

According to a report in India Today, Sunil told a news agency that it is very difficult to say anything about the character as ‘barely anything is shown’ about Laxman in the trailer. “At this stage, it is very difficult to say anything as the trailer hardly shows anything about Laxman’s character but I am sure Sunny is a good actor and would have done justice to the role as he has previous references. There are also characters.”

He further added, “Any good performance by an actor depends on how his character is created by the producers including writers, directors, cinematographers and editors.”

Sunil, who played the role of Lakshman in Ramayana, said that it was because of Ramanand that the show became successful. “When I was shooting for Ramayan, I had no reference from the past for Laxman’s character, and whatever I managed to do is because of Sagar saab’s (Ramanand Sagar) guidance. The credit goes to him and the writers of the television series. I really wish huge success to Adipurush as well as Sunny Singh and the rest of the cast.”

The epic series Ramanand Sagar was a hit in 1987 and 1988, garnering appreciation from fans and audiences till date. On popular demand, the show was pre-leased during the COVID-19 pandemic. The original show also starred Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhaliya and Arvind Trivedi.

Backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, Adipurush is set to release on June 16 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
