Raj Thackeray visits Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde’s officials residence for Ganpati darshan | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A new political equation is shaping in the state as Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray along with family visited chief minister Eknath Shinde’s officials residence at Varsha for Ganpati darshan on Tuesday.
Earlier, Shinde had visited at the Thackeray’s residence Shivtirth at Dadar for the same.
The closeness between the Raj Thackeray and Shinde is growing after formation of the new government in the state.
The visits have political significance considering the upcoming BMC election.
The political rumour is that the two may have some understanding for the BMC election to fight against Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena that ruled the BMC since last two decades.
There was gap of just two seats between Shiv Sena and BJP during the 2017 BMC election. There are 227 corporator seats in the city.
Raj Thackeray had left Shiv Sena over a decade and half ago forming his own political outfit MNS. While Shinde separated from Udhav Thackeray along with most of their party MLAs. Udhav Thackrey trying to hold his control over the party, as Shinde makes his claim over the party. Both of them fighting a legal battle over the issue.
In 2017, the MNS won 7 corporator seats in Mumbai, but six of them had defected to rival Shiv Sena, including the then MNS party leader in the BMC Dilip Lande. Afterward Lande won MLA election on Shiv Sena ticket in 2019 and now he is with the Eknath Shinde group.
MNS aiming to perform better than the last time in the coming BMC election by taking advantages of crises in the Shiv Sena.
The MNS had emerged as a big player in 2012 BMC election after winning 29 seats, was reduced to just seven seats in 2017.
