Raj Kundra’s arrest will not affect the release of Shilpa Shetty starrer Hungama 2: Producer

The producer of Hungama 2 says that the arrest of Raj Kundra will not hamper the release of the film.

The producer of Hungama 2 says that the arrest of Raj Kundra will not hamper the release of the film.

Hungama 2 marks Shilpa Shetty’s return to a full-fledged acting role after 14 years. The film is set to release digitally on July 23.

On July 19, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police arrested Raj Kundra in a case registered against him for making obscene films and publishing them through certain apps. Kundra is the husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, who was returning to a full acting role after 14 years with Hungama 2, which will release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 23.

News18 contacted producer Ratan Jain, who said that the ongoing controversy surrounding Raj Kundra will not affect his film. “Why should any of this interfere with the release of Hungama 2? It is her husband, not Shilpa who has been booked. He is one of the cast of the film and has completed all his work including promotions. Even the investigating agency said that they haven’t got any active role of Shilpa, so I don’t see why it should hamper our film. It is sad that people are dragging his name when he has nothing to do with it.”

Ratan is confident about the positive response to the film, “We have made a good film with a sincere intention. People will watch the film not because of the so called ‘Shilpa Shetty controversy’ but because of its content. We are releasing the film as per schedule and nothing has been affected due to the entire situation.”

Jain further adds that in any case the participation of an actor does not affect the film. He said, ‘I do not want to name anyone but in the past I have worked with the biggest superstars whose names have been involved in drug cases. The police called him for questioning but nothing was proved. People have forgotten this too. It’s just the media that propagates about nothing. Raj is arrested but nothing has been proved that whatever he was doing was illegal. When the verdict comes, we will talk about it. The law and investigative agencies are doing their job well and let them come out with all the findings.”

Asked if she has spoken to the actress since her arrest, “No, I have not contacted her. It is a family matter and she is going through her own troubles and I don’t want to disturb her.”
