With Rahul Dravid being appointed as the head coach for the Sri Lanka tour starting Sunday in Colombo, many see it as an audition for the legendary Indian cricketer to succeed Ravi Shastri in a full-time capacity. are.

However, Ajit Agarkar believes that what Dravid has already achieved with junior Indian teams and ‘A’ squads, he does not need to audition for a full-time role.
Agarkar said before the start of the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday, “I think Rahul does not need to audition. Ravi Shastri is not doing anything wrong except losing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Dravid guided the India Under-19 team to the world title in 2018, a team that saw captains Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill later make successful leaps into the senior team.

Another former India batsman and women’s cricket team coach WV Raman is set to become the head coach of Dravid’s men’s team.
“I don’t want to talk about the time frame, but Dravid is likely to take over as the full-time head coach, probably sometime in the future. I can’t indulge in crystal ball glazing and say when it will happen, but it will happen when Dravid is ready. In fact, a lot has been happening for the last four-five years. This will happen when he feels that he is ready to travel,” Raman said.
