Karan Johar’s foundation provides ration kits, arranges medicines for those affected by Kovid

Filmmaker Karan Johar on Sunday shared his Yash Johar Foundation’s first month “report card” and details about the work he has done to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Named after his late father, the foundation was launched last month to provide relief and support to members of the industry “who have faced the harsh side of this pandemic.” Johar took to Instagram and wrote that the YJF team is working round the clock. “Our first step was to address the urgent needs of the entertainment industry in Mumbai, which was negatively affected by COVID-19.

The 49-year-old filmmaker wrote, “YJF stepped forward to provide relief and assistance to the needy people by providing them ration kits and arranging medicine and ambulance services for COVID-19 cases.” According to Johar, YJF distributed 256 ration kits in Mumbai, supporting over 1000 people through the ration campaign. The director said that 656 people used the Saath helpline, which was set up for those feeling depressed and suicidal. “YJF is in the process of setting up a platform to provide access to eligible people. Welfare schemes with major partners. This will help create a future-focused safety net for members of the industry,” Johar wrote.

On the film front, Johar is gearing up for his next directorial venture ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, which stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.

The love story also stars Hindi cinema legends Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
