The Punjab Police has busted a major terror module backed by the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) and busted a case of grenade attacks including the attack on the Pathankot military camp, including the arrest of six of its operatives.

SBS Nagar police have also recovered six grenades, one pistol (9 mm), one rifle (.30 bore) as well as bullets and magazines from their possession, Director General of Police (DGP), VK Bhavra said here on Monday. ,

The arrested people have been identified as Amandeep, Gurvinder Singh, Parminder Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Harpreet Singh and Raman Kumar, all residents of Gurdaspur.

According to information, in two cases, some unidentified persons had hurled grenades in Pathankot – one near Chakki bridge on November 11, 2021 at around 9.30 pm, the other outside Triveni gate, at Army’s 21 sub-field in Pathankot. November 21 at around 9 pm.

A separate FIR was registered in this regard in Pathankot.

The DGP said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they were in contact with self-styled ISYF (Rode) chief Lakhbir Singh Rode and his close aides Sukhmeetpal Singh alias Sukh Bhikhariwal and Sukhpreet alias Sukh. attack.

“The entire stock of recovered grenades, arms and ammunition was pushed across the international border by Lakhbir Rode, and the arrested accused persons were tasked with further attacks on pre-identified targets, mainly police and defence. There were establishments, religious places etc,” the DGP said, adding that the accused also confessed to having hurled grenades twice in Pathankot.

SBS Nagar SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said that the police have also registered a case at a police station in Nawanshahr. “Further investigation is on,” he said.

It is noteworthy that the role of Lakhbir Rode was found in the murder of Com. Balwinder Singh at Bhikhiwind on October 16, 2020, besides the recovery of IED, RDX, arms and ammunition from his relative Gurmukh Singh Rode from Jalandhar in August 2021.

Sukhmeetpal Singh alias Sukh Bhikhariwal, who is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, was also involved in the murder of Comrade Balwinder Singh and the murderous attack on Honey Mahajan in Dhariwal on February 10, 2020.

He was deported from Dubai in December 2020. Sukh Bhikhariwal provided foot soldiers, arms and ammunition, logistics, money etc. to carry out criminal acts.
