PSG’s Neymar picks 5 footballers ‘more technical’, Lionel Messi on the list but not Cristiano Ronaldo

Dealing with strong defenders and dribbling opponents has never been a difficult task for Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar. So the Brazilian forward got in trouble when he was asked to pick five footballers who are technically more talented than him.

During a conversation with Oh My Goal, Neymar finally did manage to pick up five footballers. Two players on the list are from the English Premier League and Ligue 1. The remaining footballers play in La Liga.

According to Neymar, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Marco Verratti and Thiago are the five more technically proficient footballers than him.

“More technical than me? I don’t know if I can answer that! With all the humility in the world, I consider myself one of the most technical players in football today,” he said.

Eventually he said, though reluctantly, “But I would say… Messi, Hazard, De Bruyne, Verratti, I’m still missing one? More technical than me… Thiago!”

Neymar shared the dressing room with Messi during his stint at Barcelona. And now both footballers are playing together for the French team PSG. Verratti is also another player from the list who is currently playing for PSG along with Neymar and Messi.

Although Neymar never played against Hazard and De Bruyne, he faced two brilliant Belgian attackers on the international circuit.

Before the 2013–14 season, Neymar joined Barcelona from Brazilian football club Santos. In total, he donned the Barcelona jersey 186 times and scored 105 goals for the Catalan giants.

In 2017, the 30-year-old left the Spanish giants and signed for PSG. He has played 144 matches for PSG so far in which he has 100 goals to his name. In the recently concluded Ligue 1 season, he scored 13 goals with six assists to help the Paris-based football team lift the coveted domestic trophy. Despite his stellar performances for PSG, Neymar’s aspiration to win a Champions League title for PSG has yet to materialize.

According to several media reports, Neymar is set to leave the French club after spending five seasons at PSG. Chelsea are reportedly the frontrunners to include Neymar in the ongoing transfer window.
