Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen enthralling the audience with her much awaited mythological drama Shakuntalam. The discussion about the project escalated when there were reports that Anushka Shetty would also be a part of the project. These reports were denied by Shakuntalam’s co-producer Neelima Guna, who said that Anushka helped produce Shakuntalam but did not act in it.

With Neelima Guna stepping in to refute these reports, it was clear that Anushka’s inclusion in Shakuntalam was a rumour. The fact that Anushka had earlier worked with director Gunasekhar also fueled these rumours. He collaborated in the film Rudramadevi. The film depicts the life of the brave warrior princess Rudramadevi. She was a prominent ruler of the Kakatiya dynasty in the Deccan plateau.

Rudramadevi received mixed reviews with criticism of the film’s slow pace. During the shooting of this film, Anushka was able to understand Gunasekhar’s vision properly. According to reports, this could be one of the reasons why she is helping him in making Shakuntalam.

Meanwhile, Samantha’s first look from this film has raised the excitement around her. The actress was seen in a white sari amidst nature and deer. She was looking very attractive in this poster.

Apart from Samantha, Shakuntalam has a star cast including Dev Mohan, Aditi Balan, Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Kabir Bedi and others. The shooting of this great masterpiece has been completed. Shakuntalam is expected to release this year. The film will trace the love story of King Dushyant and Shakuntala. Shakuntala was the daughter of Vishwamitra and Menaka.
