New Delhi: India’s industrial output grew by 19.6 per cent in May 2022, according to official data released on Tuesday. According to the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) data by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the manufacturing sector output grew by 20.6 per cent in May 2022.
In May 2022, mining output increased by 10.9 percent and electricity generation by 23.5 percent. IIP had grown by 27.6 per cent in May 2021. Industrial production has been affected coronavirus pandemic since March 2020, when it had contracted 18.7 per cent.
In April 2020, it declined by 57.3 percent due to a decline in economic activity in the wake of the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of corona virus infection.
