PM Modi launches new series of coins with AKAM design – Times of India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launched a special range of coins on Monday which are also ‘Blind-Friendly’.
The coins of Rs 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 will have the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) design. They are not commemorative coins and will be part of circulation.
“This new series of coins will remind people of the goal of ‘Amrit Kaal’ and inspire people to work towards the development of the country,” Modi said while addressing the ‘Coveted Week Celebration’ of the Finance Ministry.
Meanwhile, lenders like HDFC Bank and Axis Bank said that these special coins will be distributed through select branches.
Modi also launched ‘Jan Samarth Portal’ – a credit-linked portal of 12 government schemes.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Said that each of these schemes would be displayed on the portal. “This portal is going to make it easy so that citizens do not have to ask themselves the same question every time to avail the government programme”.
AKAM is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and celebrate 75 years of Independence.
