‘Our government works day and night’: PM Modi at the inauguration of Ganga Expressway

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur.

Expressing gratitude, PM Modi said,More than Rs 36,000 crore will be spent on this 600 km long expressway. Ganga Expressway will bring new industries to the region.”

The PMO said that the inspiration behind the expressway is the vision of the Prime Minister to provide fast-paced connectivity across the country.

Starting near the Bijauli village in Meerut, the expressway will extend till near the Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. It will pass through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

“The expressway will bring many jobs and many new opportunities for thousands of youth,” he said.

“The modern infrastructure that is coming in UP today shows how the resources are used. You have seen how public money was used earlier. But today UP’s money is used for the development of UP. Earlier, big projects were started on paper so that they could fill their own coffers,” he added.

Promises made before 2014 but not fulfilled: Adityanath

During the rally, Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath said, “Every Indian in this country who saw the inauguration program of Kashi Vishwanath Dham feels proud. Promises were made in this country before 2014 but never fulfilled. Today things have changed. We have fulfilled all the promises made to the people in UP.”

What will be special in Ganga Expressway?

About 3.5 km long airstrip will be constructed at Shahjahanpur on Ganga Expressway. This airstrip will help Air Force aircraft in take-off and landing in case of emergency. Apart from this, there is also a proposal to build an industrial corridor along the expressway.

According to the PMO’s statement, the expressway will “promote industrial development, trade, agriculture, tourism etc. It will give a major boost to the socio-economic development of the region.”
