The Congress party has begun its preparations for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on a war footing with party general secretary and UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi fiercely targeting the ruling BJP government over important public issues. Along with this, the party has started a special training center for Congress leaders under the leadership of Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh.
On Friday, the 49-year-old addressed Congress workers in Prayagraj and Sultanpur. He directed the grassroot level workers to strengthen their hold in every village and protest on issues like rural poor, farmers’ unemployment and inflation.
Virtually addressing the party workers, Gandhi said, “Organisation building is the most important thing, so Congress leaders and workers should persevere to strengthen it. The opinion of the people will be the most important thing in the election. We have to be strong at the organizational level in every district – city, block, Nyaya Panchayat, as well as every gram sabha and every village involved.
“At the same time, issues related to the common man such as the Covid-19 crisis and issues related to agriculture and inflation have to be brought. Inflation is unbearable for the common man today. Today, one liter of mustard oil is available for around Rs 200, while the farmer gets Rs 15 for a kg of wheat. To buy one liter of oil, a farmer has to sell 14 kg of his wheat.
On Facebook, the Congress General Secretary said, ‘I addressed the ongoing training camps in Prayagraj and Sultanpur. In Uttar Pradesh, the workers and office bearers of the organization together are engaged in a difficult and long process of strengthening the organization. At the same time, we will become a strong voice of the opposition by raising the issues of farmers, youth, women and marginalized groups.
In the post, Gandhi further said, “We will continue to strengthen our organizational edge through ideological commitment and the role of a strong opposition. The Congress organization performed an important duty of public service when the government was absent during the Corona period. Inflation and Today the common man is being badly affected due to the closure of business. We will raise our voice against it.”
