One of the revered veteran actors, aged 68, who played a significant role in director Ramesh Sippy’s legendary movie “Sholay” alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, is commanding a staggering fee of Rs 150 crore for his upcoming project.
Kamal Haasan, attending the San Diego Comic-Con alongside his ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ co-star Prabhas, director Nag Ashwin, and producer Aswani Dutt, shared an interesting revelation about his past. Haasan disclosed that he served as an assistant director on the sets of the iconic film ‘Sholay.’ Reflecting on his initial reaction to the film, he expressed, “For those who remember Sholay with nostalgia, I was an assistant director and I couldn’t sleep that night when I saw Sholay. First, I hated the film so much, I hated the filmmaker even more. And I had the opportunity of working with that great filmmaker and I told him that that was my reaction when I saw the film,” during the global event.
As reported by News18, Kamal Haasan, currently engaged in the sequel of “Indian” with filmmaker S. Shankar, is set to receive a remarkable Rs 150 crore for his role in the action thriller. Titled ‘Indian 2,’ this film is anticipated to be one of the major releases in 2024. Alongside Haasan, the movie will feature Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, and other notable actors in key roles.
Kamal Haasan, who experienced a career resurgence with the success of the action thriller ‘Vikram’ in 2022, is reported to have an estimated net worth of Rs 700 crore, as per ABP News. In addition to his involvement in ‘Indian 2,’ Haasan is set to appear in the upcoming pan-India project, ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. For his role as the main antagonist in this mytho-sci-fi drama, News18 reports that Haasan has charged Rs 40 crore. Speaking about his decision to take on a negative character, the 68-year-old actor expressed at the San Diego Comic-Con, “The reason I accepted to do this film (is because) I come from the analogous cinema. Without the negative, there’s no positive, so a negative role is an important role in a film.”
