Maruti Suzuki Brezza Review – Smart Style

To unprotect, Maruti Suzuki has adopted a smart and safe approach. The company has retained the existing platform and bodyshell of the Brezza, while all the body panels are new. Hence, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza looks fresh without missing a true-blue SUV stance. Yes! It remains boxed, and we are sure it will appeal to a large audience.

The nose has been completely revised with the use of a new grille and LED headlamps. The latter comes with a dual-barrel projector setup and a polarizing design for LED DRLs. The bonnet takes a clam-shell approach, while the bumper gets a bull-bar-like effect. All these elements together give a bold look to the Brezza.

A set of new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, along with new flared wheel arches, step up the styling quotient on the side profile. Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki has intelligently designed the rear quarter glass to make the new Brezza appear taller, though the dimensions remain unchanged with an increase of only 45 mm in its overall height. The rear fascia now sports a new boot lid, with more creases and cuts. Also, a pair of slim LED tail lamps add a bit of Britishness to the design.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Review – Millennial-Friendly Cabin

The doors on the new Brezza close with a solid bang, so it shows off great fit-finish levels. The updated multi-layer dashboard is also as attractive as the new steering wheel. Continuing the same spirit of spaciousness, Brezza felt comfortable in her new avatar.

To make sure it has enough to entice the new-age buyers who are willing to have a lot of tech onboard, Maruti Suzuki has loaded the Brezza with ample features this time around. The list includes 360-degree parking camera, Suzuki Connect, heads-up display, 6 airbags, wireless phone charger and more. The important thing is that it all works flawlessly.

Firstly, for Maruti Suzuki, an electronic sunroof is a welcome addition over the updated Brezza. The 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment unit is also new. It offers ample reach, and the overall user experience remains crisp. It comes with 6-speaker Arkamys sound system, which provides complaint-free sound output. Connecting rear AC vents and charging ports keep second row occupants and their devices charged. In fact, it gets Type-A and Type-C ports, which is a wise touch in our eyes.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Review – Thrifty Forever

Mechanical specifications of the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza include 1.5L 4-cylinder NA petrol motor. Capable of making 103 Bhp of peak power and 137 Nm of maximum torque, the engine remains refined throughout the rev range. This time around, it gets 48V mild-hybrid technology as standard along with dual injectors on every cylinder and a dual VVT setup.

As a result, the 2022 Brezza continues to offer a balance of frugality and performance. Sadly, the motor doesn’t feel as functional as new-age turbo-petrol power plants. The top-and-happy characteristic of a 4-cylinder motor is consistent but not annoying.

Saying goodbye this time is the archaic 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It has been replaced by a new 6-speed automatic transmission with better gear ratios. The overall smoothness has been improved, and the new unit strengthens the SUV’s cruising capabilities. Hovering at 100 kmph and 120 kmph is easy, with the engine rolling at just 2,000 and 3,000 clicks.

Sadly, due to the straight line fashion of using the gear lever, it switches to manual mode every time the driver intends to slot it into ‘D’ mode. Steering-mounted paddle shifters add to the convenience when you want to take change in your hands.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Review – Handler or Holer?

Being a soft-sprung SUV, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is pampered with a comfortable ride. Without a hint of a hiccup, it can take on speed bumps, bad patches of roads, expansion joints and whatever else is thrown at it, except in tight corners.

The steering wheel is also a lightweight unit. It’s a pleasure to use in the city, although it doesn’t inspire much confidence to hit corners hard. Dropping the anchor is also not a job. The initial bite doesn’t sound very reassuring, but progress works in time and distance without a heart-wrenching moment.

The overall ride feels composed, and straight line stability is a strong aspect of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Thus, it becomes a hauler in urban environments, rural landscapes and long stretches of highways. Opting for an oil burner could have sweetened the deal for something else.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Review – Final Words

With a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza fails to undercut the existing segment king – the Tata Nexon. It has a higher starting price than the new Hyundai Venue facelift, but the bigger, refined and frugal 1.5L engine and longer feature list justify the price tag. Also, the changes in styling, cabin, powertrain and drivetrain make it a suitable offering. In fact, Maruti Suzuki has very intelligently carried forward the Vitara Brezza attitude without the Vitara prefix. In simple words, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a no-nonsense offering that can satisfy the demands of an average Indian compact SUV buyer.
