As per the Delimitation Commission, 2008 report, this General Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 1.92% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 0.04%. In 2012, Avertano Furtado of IND defeated Churchill Alemao of INC in this seat by a margin of 2,145 votes, which was 11.42% of the total votes polled in the constituency. The vote share of IND in the seat was 54.48%.
