Describing the first girl’s ordeal, NU statutory members said that the accused teacher asked her to come to the department on the pretext of some formalities, even though her post-PhD exam was online the next day.
“Then he asked her to bring HaldiramRefreshments for yourself and the contributory lecturers on the day of the exam. He also asked her to donate some amount if she wants to pass the exam. When he gave her Rs 1,000, he slammed her, asking if she was a beggar and warned her to pay at least Rs 5,000. When he refused to pick up their call, the members said that he had withheld the girl’s result for three days. The next day, the former HOD called the accused teacher and asked why the student’s result was not released. Even after this the accused insisted on summoning him to the department for some formalities.
“The next day, when the student went to the department with her husband, she was asked to pay Rs 5,000, otherwise her result would not be released. With no other option, he gave the amount to her. Even after that, he deliberately did not release his result for the next three to four days so as to penalize him for not providing the cash on the scheduled day. said the members.
