Mumbai: BMC completes 36 per cent work on coastal road project. Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Mumbai’s civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday informed that 36 per cent work on the coastal road project has been completed so far.
So far 90 per cent filling of the site, 68 per cent of the sea wall and 11 per cent of the double tunnel work has been completed.
In a statement issued, BMC said, 36 per cent work of BMC’s coastal road with the slogan ‘Happy Journey, Free Breath’ has been completed. 90 per cent filling, 68 per cent sea double tunnel wall and 11 per cent work has been completed. The work of ‘Coastal Road’ is going on uninterrupted day and night!”
The construction of the Coastal Road project started in October 2018. Its cost is Rs 12,000 crore.
The work was halted by Bombay high Court On a bunch of petitions against the project in April 2019, but construction was later allowed Supreme court In May 2019, the High Court’s adjournment was vacated after the BMC appealed to the apex court.
In 2017, the project was renamed to . was flagged off by Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) and Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).
