It is almost time for Mumbai to take on Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy final starting June 21, 2022 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Facing all odds against Madhya Pradesh qualifying for the finals for the first time since the 1998–99 season. On the other hand, Mumbai, which has dominated the domestic tournament since its inception, has earned a spot for the 47th time. With Madhya Pradesh making great strides in the tournament, a high-octane competition is expected to be played.

Mumbai’s premier team, in search of their 42nd Ranji Trophy title, will look to bring their A-game to the table and beat Madhya Pradesh. After the success in the semi-final against Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai’s team is leading a lot. Mumbai had scored 393 runs in their first innings and managed to bundle UP for 180 runs. The manner in which Mumbai played in the semi-finals was heavily criticized by cricket pundits, but whatever they did, it earned them a place in the final.

Here are five players from Mumbai who could make their mark on the match when they take the field against Madhya Pradesh in Bangalore on June 22.

Shams Mulani

The 24-year-old all-rounder has certainly been the best performer for Mumbai this season. If Mumbai wants to win the trophy this season, Shams Mulani will have to continue his purple patch and contribute with both bat and ball. Mulani has taken 37 wickets at an average of 14.59 including five five-fer and two 10-wicket matches. In his quarterfinal against Uttarakhand, Mulani claimed 5-39 in the first innings and 3-15 in the second. As far as his batting is concerned, Mulani has scored 292 runs at an average of 48.66 with five half-centuries.

Yashasvi Jaiswal
This name needs no introduction. Jaiswal had a dream during his stint with Rajasthan Royals IPL 2022. Fortunately or unfortunately, Jaiswal played only quarterfinals and semifinals for Mumbai this season and his performance was nothing short of sensational. Jaiswal scored 419 runs at an average of 104.75 with three centuries in consecutive innings. Jaiswal who seems to be hungry for runs at the moment, has all the ability to turn the game in Mumbai’s favour.

Sarfaraz Khan
This particular Mumbai batsman is batting on auto-pilot mode. Sarfaraz is in sensational touch as he has scored 803 runs at an impressive average of 133.83 with three centuries and two fifties. Making the most of the form Sarfaraz is in, it is quite possible that he can score 1000 home runs, which is a confirmation that he is at a different level right now.

Armaan Jaffer
Indian Test legend’s nephew Armaan Jaffer is another gem in Mumbai’s dominating batting line-up. The 23-year-old right-handed batsman has the skills to take his team out of tough situations along with being aggressive and anchored. Batting in the middle, Jaffer will look to bring his A-game to the table and help Mumbai clinch the trophy.

Prithvi Shaw
Mumbai team captain, Prithvi Shaw, who is desperate to cement his place in the Mumbai team, wants to lead his team from the front and win the Ranji Trophy for his team. Prithvi, the Indian who seems out of the scheme of things, said it is an honor to lead Mumbai and he would like to put his best foot forward to qualify for that Indian dressing room.
