Multan Sultans’ Sohaib Maqsood won the Player of the Tournament title

Multan Sultans won the sixth season of Pakistan Super League 2021 (PSL 2021). The team won the title by defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs. Batsman Sohaib Maqsood played an integral role in Multan’s victory by scoring 65 off 35 balls in the final match held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, June 24. Sohaib was also declared the man of the match and was also awarded the player of the tournament title. Throughout the tournament, he managed to hit five half-centuries and 22 sixes.

Shoaib has been included in Pakistan’s squad for the tour of England and West Indies due to his commendable performance in PSL 2021. The last time he represented Pakistan in an international match was in 2016.

Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan also did well in the league. He managed to score a total of 500 runs during the series. Riley Rossouw and Shan Masood made huge contributions in Multan’s victory after scoring 50 runs in 21 balls and 37 runs in 29 balls respectively. The team scored 206 runs for the loss of four wickets. On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi could not go beyond 159 runs in the final match of PSL 2021.

Shahnawaz Dhani of Multan Sultans won the best bowler and emerging player of the tournament award. The right-arm bowler took 20 wickets in the entire season. Peshawar Zalmi’s Wahab Riaz bowled something phenomenal during the series as he managed to pick up 18 wickets in the entire league.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam of Karachi Kings managed to score the most runs in the entire league. He scored 554 runs during PSL 2021. Despite this performance, he could not manage any award in the tournament.

PSL 2021 was played between six teams namely Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators.
