3 killed in knife attack in Germany
At least three people were killed and several others injured in a knife attack in the southern German city of Würzburg, according to police.
The incident took place on Friday evening at Barbarosplatz Square in the city center, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Chowk and its surrounding areas have been sealed after the attack.
Local media outlet Bayerischen Rundfunk said in a report that the suspected 24-year-old Somali man stabbed several people with a 40 cm long knife and that police used firearms and arrested him.
Bavarian state interior minister Joachim Herrmann said police had found records that the suspect was treated in a psychiatric institution and would later define whether the incident was a terrorist act or a move for psychological reasons.
He said that the condition of five of the injured is critical.
Herrmann said there was no evidence so far to suggest the victims had any personal relationship with the suspect.
