Minority Rights Day: History

In 1992, 18 December was declared as Minority Rights Day by the United Nations. The United Nations adopted the Statement on the Rights of Persons belonging to religious or linguistic national or ethnic minorities. In India, it is the responsibility of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) to carry out the programs of this day. NCM was established in 1992 by the Central Government under the National Commission for Minorities Act.
